THE RIGHT TACT ON IMMIGRATION

There are some very easy yet tough ways to solve the Illegal Immigration problem in the U.S. The first step involves not only strengthening the southern border but it involves taking the 4.7% of unemployed American’s in this country and offering them border protection work. Training individuals to patrol and enforce the borders in vast numbers and with a somewhat militarized intent would offer the necessary beginning.

Replication of Stalag 17 outposts on both the southern and northern border, something akin to rivaling the Berlin Wall, with orders to eliminated border crossings (as in shoot to kill) would demonstrate what American sentiment currently suggests. Come here legally or you won’t be allowed to come at all. The major difference is that we would be putting up physical barriers to keep people out, not to lock them in. We will no longer tolerate illegal crossings of our borders by anyone, freedom seeker or terrorist alike. Ports of entry should also involve something more than searching grandma’s shoes by treating those entrances with aggressive search measures.

Second the folks who entered the country legally should be offered an expedited path to citizenship. Praise to them! Immigrant’s who comit felonies before citizenship should be deported! Employers who continue to employ any worker who cannot prove legal or visa approved status should lose their business license immediately and be removed from the market place.

Once the borders are secured and the employers fostering the enslavement of a migrant working class for inhumane wages have been irradiated then the process of a legal worker program may begin in earnest to regulate non-citizens who want to work in the country and pursue legal citizenship. A unifying aspect of such potentially massive influx of immigrants is making English the official language of this country. If you don’t speak it you shouldn’t be able to become a citizen. Effort is required!

As for the much ballyhooed 12 million illegal immigrants estimated to be in this country the following provision should apply. You will never be allowed to become an American citizen! You have broken the law which should be considered a felony. The only hope for citizenship for you is to return to your home country and request legal status in the process like everybody else. Also children born in America to illegal immigrants should not qualify as American Citizens. This country should not be interested in growing families of law breakers. Once again the family may enter legally after they follow the process like every other immigrant. Rewarding irresponsibility should no longer be tolerated in any aspect of the country’s population.
