THE DEMOCRAT DELUSION!
About six months ago the Democrat party was considered a long shot to overtake the sitting Republican majorities in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. To consider such a thing was entertaining but not likely.
Since then some things happened to lead Democrats to put on rose colored glasses. The party hijacked by its far left wing pumped its conspiracy leaning ideology into the mainstream. Coupled with their unbridled hatred for the sitting President and his sagging poll numbers the Democrat left philosophy gained credence. The media eagerly assisted. Armed with polls of questionable methodology the hype became a snowball gaining density as it rolled down hill. The skies seemed to brighten for Democrats.
By mid summer the winter’s chorus had changed so much so that some in the media gushed over prospects of a coronation for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and a Democrat return to majority power. Democrat committee members were practically being assured jobs as chairmen. The vision however, will prove to be merely a dream.
Democrats are avoiding by the old election proverb don’t count your chickens before they vote! The long ride from January through the summer traditionally highlights opinions from a population not really paying attention to politics. It is not until mid September that the voters really begin to take assessment of who they want in power.
The first sign of popping the Democrat dream machine occurred when Joe Lieberman was defeated in his own party’s primary. Afterward joyous Democrat celebration was dampened as it became evident that Joe Stay the Course in Iraq Lieberman will probably still win in the general election as an Independent.
The tide is turning again as the electorate turns back to the looming election. The signs once so hopeful for Democrats are now more ominous. It threatens to put the lid back on their victory party.
The election will be decided on 2 major fronts: the war on terror and the economy. The old adage that all elections are local, that is being so carelessly tossed aside by Democrats and media reports, will once again bear out its truth this November. Incumbents win more than 90% of the time. This year will be no exception. The election outlook, given the good economy, 95.3% of folks employed, falling gasoline prices, and Republicans more trustworthy in war time adds up to staying the course in the House and Senate. The House and Senate will likely remain Republican
Given the fact that the last two major elections were far from traditional those who have jumped to an early conclusion are sure to be disappointed come November. Since President Bush won the controversial 2000 Presidential election the Democrats have virtually barked up every wrong tree in drawing outcome conclusions. This year again will be no different. However we must thank the Democrats and the media for inventing a story worthy of some interest. It’s kind of like a Hollywood movie; an interesting story but fiction nonetheless.
