Pulling The Trigger

It is now okay once again for American’s to own guns. Not since the Wild West has Clint Eastwood been safe as a private citizen in carrying a weapon. The Supreme Court affirmed individual’s rights to own guns in its first case dealing with the second amendment, practically since the Constitution was written. As a matter of law it is a good ruling. The Constitution guarantees citizens the right to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. In order to do that it might very well mean fighting the government’s “well- regulated militia.” That is the supremacy of the law, its basis, and frankly the purpose of the entire Constitution. If citizens are threatened by their government, they have the right to overthrow it, by force if necessary, to restore tranquility and justice. In small town America, citizens have been bestowed the right to defend themselves and families with modern weaponry.

In practicality, criminals will get guns too. Then already do and have long threatened the fabric of law-biding American citizen rights. People have the right to walk to the bus station, local grocery store, neighborhood tavern, and local park without being molested by criminals. Unfortunately, some ne’er-do-wells endanger that peace with violent acts, including assaults and homicide. The location of the court case, Washington D.C., offers direct approval to the town’s people to carry guns for defense. The right has now been affirmed to everyone. The playing field just become a little bit more even. Let the criminals of the country, and tyrants of government beware. The people are armed, and like the Supreme Court, ready to pull the trigger should you continue to interfere with life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Freedom after all needs some guarantees. The court affirmed that “magnum force” will do the trick, and it is a constitutional right of each citizen to do so.

Barackracy!

What would the world look and feel like in the wake of a Barack Obama presidency? Will an African version of Camelot settle upon America? Will fairies flitter about as babbling brooks elicit calm reflection as man holds out his hand to his fellow man? It could, but in the post Bush-Clinton era, it is not likely. For all of the rhetoric imploring what the country needs, beneath the silver tongue lays the soul of a radical politician. Obama is so far left that he passed socialism long ago. His ties to radicals at home and around the globe are finally seeing some illuminating light.

With every effort to bring his vision to the country, the federal government would dig its hands deeper and deeper into your pocket and mine. Taxes would skyrocket. Those investments you are contributing to in hopes of having ample retirement for your golden years will be pilfered as the government takes more of it every day. Your twilight years will be darker, and your golden years; reduced to tin.

"McCainenomics" would not improve our lot either. There is plenty of evidence that he also talks a good game, but often delivers division. Look at his actions within his own party. He forges arrogantly ahead with his own course, despite what the American people desire.

Both promise to clean up Washington, its lobbyists, and the corruption of money. However, both will do more to add layers upon layers to the bureaucracy rather than reducing it. The last “small government” guy was President Reagan, and he was soundly criticized.

After years of yutzes occupying the Oval office American’s have had enough, but the trend is likely to continue despite the chorus of “change” that you keep hearing. That political song is designed to appeal to your emotions not your logic.

Unfortunately, the gridlock of the past is likely to be the hallmark of either a McCain Presidency or one featuring Obama. American’s are worn out from the chicanery, pomp, and slick glossy presentations. When we finally get to see what’s really behind the curtain, we will have been screwed for a few more decades. Whether it is Supreme Court nominees, health-care, energy policy, or taxes, the people pay the piper. The population grows poorer in the process all of the time. The only other thing that grows is the layers of mismanagement.

I hereby declare that "McCainenomics" or the large looming "Barackracy" will be the terms that will be used to expose the misappropriation of power of the next President, and to mock our own stupidity for nominating such weak electoral choices.
